This could be the year Louisiana drivers will have to wait until they get to their destination to pick up their phone. A cell phone ban is getting very close in the Big Easy to becoming a law.
The bill was just passed the house vote and is headed to the Senate. This may seem like a laughable law but last year saw an all-time record number of highway deaths in America due to distracted driving. The bills does make an exception when it come to hands-free devices, so the phone accessory companies are probably licking their lips at stipulation.
The state law currently doesn’t allow texting and driving, but it really isn’t enforced that much. Louisiana lawmakers actually heard testimony from a woman, whose daughter was killed in a car crash that involved a distracted driver. The driver was, of course, distracted by her cell phone while driving the vehicle. The woman’s daughter’s car was rear ended by the distracted driver who was texting and driving. The mom has now become an advocate against texting and driving.
State law forbids texting and driving, but Salter said since her daughter’s death, she discovered very few tickets are written for that. The state law also forbids cell phone use in active school zones, but it looks like Louisiana is putting their foot down on cell phone use and driving by putting bigger restrictions on drivers.
Whenever you call into our chat lines you should never be driving. Our chat lines are always open, so putting you and someone else in danger by being a distracted driver isn’t worth it. If you really just can’t wait because your juices are flowing and your pipes are ready to burst, drive to a nearby parking lot and make sure your engine is idle and call us from your cell phone. Talk121 is a big advocate for practicing responsible chatting when calling into our phone chat lines. We know sometimes the horniness can make us do some stupid things to get that nut.
